Barnby to Baron Kelvin

This page has been updated to include basic information about those that lost their lives. The data is by courtesy of the CWGC and I have included information about those who served on the ships but who had a normal burial as well as those lost at sea and recorded on the Tower Hill memorial. Barnby

She was a 4,813 grt steam cargo ship that was sunk on 22 May 1941 by a torpedo fired by German submarine U-111 at position 60° 30’ N 34° 12’ W. The CWGC database has a later date for the death of Mr.Fletcher. It is presumed that Mr. Moore survived the attack but died shortly afterwards.

The correct name of this ship was Barn Hill. She was a 5,439 grt steam cargo ship that was sunk on 20 March 1940 by bombs dropped from an aircraft about 3 miles SSW of Beachy Head.
