Deslock

She was a 4,461 grt steam cargo ship that was captured by the Japanese on 8 December 1941. According to the CWGC database, the Date of Death of Mr Steen was 2 March 1945 - at which time the ship was in the hands of the Japanese. The ship was launched as Errington Court and a history of the ship can be found on the Benjidog website HERE.

Desmoulea

She was a 8,120 grt motor tanker that survived the war. She was damaged by a torpedo on 31 January 1941 fired by either a destroyer on an E-boat at position 35° 31’ N 02° 34’ E and attacked by torpedo fired by aircraft on 3 August 1941 at a position off West beacon Suez. According to the CWGC database, Mr Donn was the Third Engineer Officer and his Date of Death is recorded as 31 Jan 1941 so he died as a result of the first of these attacks.

She was a 9,661 grt steam passenger/ cargo ship that was sunk on 19 August 1941 by German raider Komet at position 04° 08’ S 92° 23’ W. There are four deaths recorded in the CWGC database and all have recorded graves. I do not have further information about this but presume from the location of graves that these men were taken to Germany as POWs and died there.
