She was a 7,603 GRT steam cargo ship that was damaged on 23 October 1940 when bombed by aircraft at Gareloch. She was attacked again on 27 June 1941 and sunk by a torpedo fired by German submarine U-69 at position 23° 50' N 21° 10' W.
