Empire Buffalo to Empire Cloud

This page has been updated to include basic information about those that lost their lives. The data is by courtesy of the CWGC and I have included information about those who served on the ships but who had a normal burial as well as those lost at sea and recorded on the Tower Hill memorial. Empire Cloud

She was a 5,969 grt steam cargo ship that was damaged on 9 May 1941 by a torpedo fired by German submarine U-201 at position 61° 00’ N 32° 30’ W. She was attacked again on 19 August 1942 by U-564 but remained afloat but sunk whilst under tow on 21 August at position 10° 54’ N 62° 10’ W. The deaths recorded on the memorial relate to the earlier attack.
