Empire Portia to Empire Seal

This page has been updated to include basic information about those that lost their lives. The data is by courtesy of the CWGC and I have included information about those who served on the ships but who had a normal burial as well as those lost at sea and recorded on the Tower Hill memorial. Empire Portia

She was a 7,058 grt steam cargo ship that was badly damaged on 29 June 1944 at position 50° 33’ N 00° 35’ W. It is not clear whether she hit a mine or was torpedoed by U-988 which was in the area but did not return from patrol.
