Gatinais to Giang Seng

This page has been updated to include basic information about those that lost their lives. The data is by courtesy of the CWGC and I have included information about those who served on the ships but who had a normal burial as well as those lost at sea and recorded on the Tower Hill memorial. She was a 389 grt motor cargo ship that was sunk on 3 December 1942 by a torpedo fired by a German E-boat at a position 5 mailes off Start Point on a bearing of 190°.

The correct name for this ship was apparently Geo.H.Jones. She was a 6,689 grt steam tanker that was sunk on 11 June 1942 by torpedoes fired by German submarine U-455 at position 45° 40' N, 22° 40' W.

She was a 12,442 grt motor tanker that survived the war. She was attacked and damaged on 3 May 1942 by a torpedo and gunfire from German submarine U-66 at position 11° 18' N, 61° 19' W. The DEMS gunners put up a spirited defence and the submarine broke off the attack.

She was a 1,859 grt steam passenger/ cargo ship that had been built in 1899. She is believed to have been scuttled at Surabaya on 2 March 1942.
