Inverlane to Jalapadma

This page has been updated to include basic information about those that lost their lives. The data is by courtesy of the CWGC and I have included information about those who served on the ships but who had a normal burial as well as those lost at sea and recorded on the Tower Hill memorial. She was a 9,158 grt motor tanker that was sunk by torpedoes fired by German submarine U-204 at a position 30 miles from Cape Spartel on a bearing of 240°.

She was an 1,862 grt steam cargo ship that was damaged on 4 July 1940 by aircraft bombing at position 50° 30’ N 02° 00’ W but was repaired. She was sunk on 27 November 1940 by a torpedo fired by German submarine U-95 at position 53° 06’ N 01° 25’ E.

There is not much information to hand about this ship but I believe that she was a 99 grt tug that sank after hitting a mine in Langstone Harbour on 8 May 1941.

Isleford

She was a 414 grt motor cargo ship used as an Armament Stores Carrier. She ran aground in Wick Bay Scotland on 25 January 1942 in a blizzard and was lost. The entire crew of 14 plus one DEMS gunner were all drowned. Further information about Mr Hall can be found on the Queries and Omissions page under 'Omissions'.
