Marlene to Matheran

This page has been updated to include basic information about those that lost their lives. She was a 4,017 grt motor cargo ship that survived the war. According to the CWGC database, Mr Hodson was a carpenter whose Date of Death was 11 June 1943 but I have not found any further information to date.

She was a 4,016 grt motor refrigerated cargo ship that on 7 February 1943 ran into mines laid by German submarine U-118 at position 35° 58’ N, 05° 59’ W. She sank later in the Strait of Gibraltar at position 35° 55’ N, 05° 59’ W.

According to the CWGC database, the Date of Death of Mr. Newall who was Chief Steward was 22 July 1942 and that of Mr Stott who was Second officer was 6 February 1944.
