She was a 4,937 grt motor cargo ship that was sunk on 11 February 1943 by German submarine U-509 at position 34° 53’ S, 19° 51’ E.

She was a 4,809 grt steam cargo ship that was damaged on 28 September 1940 by aircraft bombing at position 58° 10’ N, 02° 19’ W. She was sunk on 21 December 1942 by torpedoes and gunfire from Italian submarine Enrico Tazzoli at position 00° 49’ S, 41° 34’ W.

Although I cannot be entirely sure, it appears that the ship concerned here was the 81,235 Passenger ship that survived the war and was eventually hulked at Long Beach. According to the CWGC database, the Date of Death of Mr Cain a lift attendant was 27 April 1941, that of Mr Forshaw an AB was 20 June 1942 and that of Mr Iredale a steward was 24 June 1942.
