She was a 1,124 grt motor tanker that was sunk on 2 November 1944 by a torpedo fired by an E-boat at position 51° 16’ N, 02° 53’ E.

She was a 4,507 steam cargo ship that was sunk on 16 March 1941 by gunfire from a German raider - thought to have been either Gneisnau or Sharnhorst - at position 42° 00’ N, 43° 00’ W. I believe there were no survivors but have not been able to confirm this.

She was a 5,479 grt steam cargo ship that was sunk on 5 July 1942 by torpedoes fired by German submarine U-703 at position 75° 57’ N, 43° 00’ E (in the Barents Sea).

She was a 351 grt compound-engined cargo ship that sunk on 4 June 1940 following a collision with HMS Folkestone at a position 8 miles East-North-East of Skerries.

She was a 246 grt motor cargo ship that survived the war. She was damaged on 11 July 1941 on hitting a mine at position 53° 00’ N, 01° 15’ E.

She was a 2,918 grt steam cargo ship that was sunk on 4 July 1941 by gunfire from German submarine U-69 at position 24° 15’ N, 20° 00’ W. There was an exchange of fire with the ship over more than two hours during which the submarine records firing 102 HE rounds, 34 incendiary rounds plus fire from machine guns.

She was a 6,939 grt steam cargo ship that was sunk on 25 July 1944 by torpedoes fired by German submarine U-862 at position 20° 03’ S, 14° 21’ W.

Rockforest

She was a 233 grt steam tug that survived the war. According to the CWGC, the Date of Death of Mr Cannell, who was Chief Engineer Officer, was 12 September 1945. He appears to have been buried at Corozal American Military Cemetary and came from Lytham St Annes where I now live.
