Britannia (London) was a 1,814 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1902 by Wood, Skinner & Co. for J.Hall, Jr. & Co. She was sunk on 8 December 1916 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-38 at position 37° 18' N, 10° 29' W - approximately 70 nautical miles West by South of Cape Sines. She was en route from London to Malaga with a general cargo.

Britannic

Britannic was a 48,158 GRT steam passenger/cargo ship (ref) completed in 1915 by Harland & Wolff for Oceanic Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. She had been requisitioned as a hospital ship in 1915 and renamed HMHS Britannic. She sank on 21 November 1916 following a large explosion. It is believed that this was as a result of her striking a mine laid by German submarine U-73 on 28 October 1916. Her loss occurred approximately 4 nautical miles West of Port St. Nikolo, Zea Channel. She had been en route from Naples to Mudros.

She is believed to have been sunk on in April 1917 by German submarine UC-31 at position 55° 50' N, 01° 30' E. The details about this incident are rather vague but judging by the casualty list it seems likely that the entire crew were lost.
