Ancestry.com Ancestry is one of the most popular websites for investigating and recording your family tree. It is a subscription site and you will have to pay more for access to international records
Inflation Calculator Bank of England site helping you to work out the current value of money taking inflation into account. Useful to work out today's value of the money left by Uncle Bill when he died in 1889.
Bomb Sight Map showing the location of bombs dropped during part of the London Blitz
British Newspaper Archive A subscription site giving access to hundreds of UK newspapers as far back as the 1700s. Very useful for research.
FamilySearch A free site run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You have to register. I have found useful information here that I could not find on my site of choice Ancestry on occasions.
Find my Past A subscription site on a par with Ancestry. It is currently the only place you can access in indices of the UK 1921 census without visiting the Public Records Office or a couple of other centres.
Geni You need to register and there is a free trial period. From a quick check it seems inferior to Ancestry
National Library of Scotland - Map Images Free site giving access to hundreds of old Ordnance Survey and other types of map.
Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland Free site giving access to old Ordnance Survey of Norther Ireland.
