Power to the People

This is the first of a series of websites I am constructing about electrical and other sources of power. It is based on a collection of photos I inherited from my grandfather - more about this on the next page.

The subject matter is the enormous and largely manual task undertaken in the 1920s and 1930s to construct the UK National Grid for electricity.

I will be supplementing this with material covering the development of the telegraph and electricity generation, the evolution of appliances, and details of the power stations in the Greater London area.

There are links at the foot of each page to step through the site, or you can use the menu. If you wish, you can provide feedback, view the visitors book, use search facilities and access other research resources I have created.
