Carlo was a 1,987 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1913 by Clyde Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd. for T.Wilson, Sons & Co. Ltd. From 1917 she was owned by Ellerman's Wilson Line Ltd. She was sunk on 13 November 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-95 approximately 7 nautical miles South-West by South of the Coningbeg light vessel. She was en route frolm Carthagena to Liverpool with general cargo.

Carmelite was a 2,605 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1892 by J. Blumer & Co. for Persian Gulf Steamship Co. as Shat El Arab. From 1899 she was owned by R.B.Avery and had been renamed to Carmelite. She was sunk on 2 March 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-105 at position 54° 00' N, 04° 52' W - approximately 10 nautical miles South-West by West of the Calf of Man. She was en route from Bilbao to Cardiff with a cargo of iron ore.

Carpathia

Carpathia was a 13,564 GRT steam passenger/cargo ship (ref) completed in 1903 by Swan, Hunter Ltd. for Cunard Steamship Co. Ltd. She was sunk on 17 July 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-55 at position 50° 25' N, 10° 49' W - approximately 170 nautical miles West by North of Bishop Rock. She was en route from Liverpool to Boston in ballast. Years before, Carparthia had rendered great service in picking up survivors from Titanic.

According to Charles Hocking [35]:

Two torpedoes were fired, the first striking the liner just forward of the engine-room and the second exploding in the engine-room itself. Five men of the engine-room staff were killed by the explosion. The survivors numbered 215 of whom 57 were passengers. The shp sank at 9:15 AM.

Caspian was a 3,603 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1894 by Edwards' Shipbuilding Co. for Nelson Donkin & Co. By the time of her loss she was owned by Mitre Shipping Co. Ltd. and managed by Houlder, Middleton & Co. She was sunk on 20 May 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-34 at position 37° 53' N, 00° 22' W - approximately 3.5 nautical miles from Cape Cervera, Alicante. She was en route from Antofagasta to Savona with a cargo of nitrate. The Chief Engineer, Second Officer and ship's gunner were taken prisoner.
