This page includes basic information about the ships and how they were lost, a photo of the relevant panel(s) of the Tower Hill Memorial and information about those that lost their lives extracted from the CWGC database. In the table I have included information about those who served on the ships but who had a normal burial as this seems appropriate to me. In some cases further family information about the individuals may be available on the CWGC website [7].

Condor

Condor was a 151 GRT steam trawler completed in 1894 by Cook, Welton & Gemmell for Ramsdale Trawling Company of Scarborough. She was registered at Scarborough as SH 12 and set sail with five other trawlers on 29 May 1915 and was not seen again.

At first it was thought that the vessel had put into Whitby but this was round not to be the case. The ship's boat was found by a patrolling naval drifter on 3 June 1915 and on 17 June two young women came across the body of the skipper washed ashore at Speeton near Filey. It is presumed that the trawler either struck a mine or caught one in her net.
