Gartland was a 2,613 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1892 by J. Readhead & Sons for Hain Steamship Co. Ltd. as Trewidden. From 1915 she was owned by Gart Steamship Co. Ltd and managed by Whimster & Co. She was sunk on 3 January 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine UB-30 approximately 5 nautical miles East-South-East of the Owers light vessel. She was en route from Newcastle to Gibraltar with a cargo of coal.

From 1915 she was owned by Whimster & Co. and at the time of her loss by The Laurium Transport Co. Ltd. and managed by LKeopold Walford Ltd. She was sunk on 19 August 1917 by torpedo fired by Austrian submarine U-40 at position 34° 52' N, 18° 14' E - approximately 180 nautical miles South-East by East of Malta. She was en route from Ergasteria to Middlesbrough with a cargo of manganese ore, lead and arsenic.

The ship broke in two before sinking.
