Mauritius was a 172 GRT steam trawler completed in 1902 by Cook, Welton & Gemmell for Hull Steam Fishing & Ice Co. Ltd. and registered in Hull as H.547. She was posted missing on 17 May 1915 - she had been fishing in the North Sea.

She was sunk on 17 May 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine UB-50 at position 36° 05' N, 01° 35' W - approximately 50 nautical miles South-East by South of Cabo de Gata. She was en route from Cardiff to Malta with a cargo of coal.

Medina

Medina was a 12,358 GRT steam passenger/cargo ship (ref) completed in 1911 by Caird & Co. Ltd. for Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co. She was sunk on 28 April 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine UB-31 at position 50° 15' N, 03° 30' W - approximately 3 nautical miles East-North-East of Start Point. She was en route from Sydney and India via Plymouth to London with passengers and a general cargo.

According to Charles Hocking [35]:

The liner Medina, Capt. H.S.Bradshaw, left Plymouth for London on April 28th 1917 on the last lap of her voyage from India. The same evening, three miles E.N.E. of Start P:oint, she was torpedoed in the starboard engineroom by a submarine. The engines stopped and the vessel began to sink. Wireless calls were sent out and passengers and cerw went to the boats without confusion or hurry. At 7.15 p.m., 45 minutes after she had been hit, the Medina sank. Mr. Palmer the fourth engineer and five native firemen were killed by the explosion, theirs being the only lives lost. The boats were taken in tow by destroyers and motor launches and brought to Dartmouth and Brixham.
