Phare was a 1,267 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1906 by Blyth Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. for Alfred Christensen as Lady Furness. From 1915 she was owned by Gas Light & Coke Co. Ltd., renamed Phare, and managd by Stephenson Clarke & Co. She was sunk on 31 October 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine UB-35 approximately 2.5 nautical miles North by East of Scarborough. She was en route from Tyne to London with a cargo of coal.

Philadelphian was a 5,120 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1891 by Harland & Wolff Ltd. for Frdk. Leyland & Co. Ltd. She was sunk on 19 February 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-82 approximately 47 nautical miles South by East of The Lizard. She was en route from New Yor to London with a general cargo.

Pilar de Larrinaga was a 4,136 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1902 by Russell & Co. for Miguel de Larrinaga Steamship Co. Ltd. and managed by Larrinaga & Co. She was sunk on 4 May 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine UC-65 at position 52° 10' N, 06° 08' W - approximately 2 nautical miles South-East by South of Tuskar Rock. She was en route from Galveston to Manchester with a general cargo.

Pinegrove was a 2,847 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1896 by C. S. Swan & Hunter Ltd. for Alexander & Mair. She sank on 11 December 1915 after striking a mine laid by German submarine UC-3 approximately 8 nautical miles West by South of Cap Gris Nez. She was en route from Dunkirk to London in ballast.

Pinewood was a 2,219 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1914 by S. P. Austin & Son Ltd. for Wm. France, Fenwick & Co. Ltd. She was captured on 17 February 1918 by German submarine U-86 at position 51° 50' N, 07° 35' W - approximately 15 nautical miles South of Mine Head - and subsequently sunk by gunfire. She was en route from Cardiff to Queenstown with a cargo of coal and timber.

Planudes was a 542 GRT compound-engined cargo ship completed in 1900 by R. Williamson & Co. for Planudes Steamship Co. Ltd. and managed by A. Nicholls & Co. She was posted missing on 18 January 1917 and is believed to have sunk after striking a mine laid by German submarine UC-43 off Whitby. She was en route from the Tyne to Trouville with a cargo of coal.

Plawsworth was a 4,724 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1917 by Richardson, Duck & Co. Ltd. for Dalgliesh Steam Shipping Co. Ltd. and managed by R. S. Dalgliesh. She was sunk on 13 July 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-60 at position 49° 36' N, 09° 10' W - approximately 105 nautical miles West by North of Bishop Rock. She was en route from Newport to Genoa with a cargo of coal.

Plutus was a 1,189 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1910 by Campbeltown Shipbuilding Co. for J. & P. Hutchison. She was sunk on 24 April 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine UC-47 at position 50° 41' N, 05° 07' W - approximately 9 nautical miles North-North-West of Trevose Head. She was en route from Rouen to Barry Roads in ballast.

Pola was a 3,053 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1898 by J. Readhead & Sons for English & American Shipping Co. Ltd. and managed by C. T. Bowring & Co., Ltd. She was sunk on 18 March 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-81 at position 48° 30' N, 12° 00' W - approximately 280 nautical miles West-North-West of Ushant. She was en route from Cardiff to an unknown destination with a cargo of coal.

Polandia was a 2,238 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1898 by Blohm & Voss for Woermann Line as Paul Woermann. From 1915 she was in the hands of the British Government and renamed Polandia. She left Birkenhead on 10 March 1917 bound for Cherbourg with a government cargo and was not heard of again.
