Saxon Monarch was a 4,828 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1912 by Napier & Miller Ltd. for Monarch Steamship Co. Ltd. and managed by Raeburn & Verel Ltd. She was sunk on 25 June 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine UC-17 at position 48° 24' N, 07° 47' W. She was en route from Bombay to London with a cargo of wheat.

Saxonian was a 4,855 GRT steam tanker completed in 1914 by Greenock & Grangemouth Dockyard Co. Ltd. for Petroleum Steamship Co. Ltd. and managed by Lane & Macandrew. She was captured on 7 February 1917 by German submarine U-54 at position 50° 26' N, 16° 26' W - approximately 270 nautical miles West by South of Fastnet and sunk by gunfire. She was en route from Port Arthur to Dartmouth with a cargo of paraffin oil.

Scholar was a 1,635 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1886 by Raylton Dixon & Co. for Charente Steamship Co. Ltd. At the time of her loss she was owned by Atlantic & Eastern Steamship Co. Ltd. and managed by J. Glynn & Son She was sunk on 18 May 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-55 at position 48° 53' N, 08° 04' W - approximately 90 nautical miles West by South of Bishop Rock. She was en route from Livorno to Liverpool with a general cargo.

Scotland was a 152 GRT steam trawler completed in 1897 by Cook, Welton & Gemmell Ltd. for Hull Steam Fishing & Ice Co. Ltd. and registered in Hull as H.348. She sank approximately 15 miles South-East of Flamborough Head and is thought to have struck a mine.

Scottish Monarch was a 5,043 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1906 by Russell & Co. for Monarch Steamship Co. Ltd. and managed by Raeburn & Vereland. She captured by German submarine U-24 at position 51° 10' N, 08° 00' W - approximately 40 nautical miles South of the Ballycottin Lighthouse then sunk by gunfire. She was en route from New York to Manchester with a general cargo.

This Sculptor was a 3,846 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1911 by Charles Connell & Co. for Charente Steamship Co. Ltd. She was sunk on 18 April 1917 by a torpedo fired by German submarine U-53 approximately 120 nautical miles North-West by West of Fastnet. The vessel en route from New Orleans to Liverpool with a general cargo.

Sculptor was a 4,874 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1912 by A. McMillan & Son Ltd. for British & Foreign Steamship Co. Ltd. as Saint Andrew. From 1918 she was owned by Charente Steamship Co. Ltd. and managed by T. & J. Harrison. She was torpedoed on 17 May 1918 by German submarine U-39 approximately 60 nautical miles North-West by West of Oran.

The vessel was beached at Mers-el-Kebir and some of the cargo salvaged. Recovery had to cease when there was a large explosion in the fore part of the ship. She was en route from Swansea to Salonica with military stores.

Sea Gull (Ipswich) was a 144 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1893 by J. Fullerton & Co. for R. & W. Paul Ltd. She sank on 26 February 1917 after striking a mine laid by German submarine UC-16 approximately 4 nautical miles South by East of the Folkestone Gate. She was en route from London Boulogne with a general cargo.

Sea Gull (London) was a 976 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1899 by Mackie & Thomson for Leach & Co. Ltd. She was sunk on 17 March 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-103 approximately 7 nautical miles North-East of Lynas Point. She was en route from Le Havre to London with a general cargo.

Sea Serpent was a 902 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1898 by A. McMillan & Son Ltd. for Leach & Co., Ltd. She sank on 23 March 1916 after striking a mine laid by German submarine UC-6 at position 51° 02' N, 01° 12' E - off Folkestone Pier. She was en route from Liverpool to Dunkirk with a cargo of corrugated galvanised sheets.

She was sunk on 10 July 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-87 approximately 10 nautical miles South-West of Fastnet. She was en route from Sydney to London with a general cargo.
