Vessels Lost in WW1: Strathord to Susie

In the table I have included information about those who served on the ships but who had a normal burial as this seems appropriate to me. In some cases further family information about the individuals may be available on the CWGC website [7].
Strathord
Strathord was a 195 GRT steam fishing vessel completed in 1906 by Hall, Russell & Co. Ltd. for Aberdeen Steam Trawling And Fishing Co. From 1920 she was owned by Raincliffe Steam Trawling Co. and registered at Scarborough. On 23 February 1920 she was seen to be blown up by a mine by the crew of another fishing vessel.

Strombus
Strombus was a 6,030 GRT steam tanker completed in 1900 by Armstrong, Whitworth & Co. Ltd. for Shell Transport & Trading Co. Ltd. From 1907 she was owned by Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co. Ltd. She was damaged on 4 June 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine UC-20 at position 33° 10' N, 15° 58' E. She was en route from Marseille to Port Said with a cargo of boxwood, war material and empty drums. I have not been able to ascertain the nature of the attack, nor the cause of death of Mr. White in 1916. The vessel made it to report and was repaired. Later she was converted into a whaling factory ship and was beached after striking a mine in 1940.

Stryn
Stryn was a 2,045 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1901 by Bonn & Mees of Rotterdam for NV Mij ss Louise as Louise. From 1918 she was in the hands of the British Government Shipping Controller and managed by Constantine, Donking & Co. She was sunk on 10 June 1918 by torpedo fired by German submarine UB-80 approximately 5 nautical miles East of Berry Head. She was en route from Rouen to Barry in ballast.

Stuart Prince
Stuart Prince was a 3,597 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1899 by T. Turnbull & Son for Pyman Bros. At the time of her loss she was owned by Prince Line, Ltd. and managed by Furness, Withy & Co. Ltd. She was sunk on 22 March 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-66 at position 55° 28' N, 11° 20' W - approximately 85 nautical miles North by West of Broad Haven, County Mayo. She was en route from Manchester to Alexandria with a general cargo.
