Losses in WW1

Togston was a 1,057 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1909 by Osbourne, Graham & Co. for Broomhill Collieries Ltd. From 1915 she was owned by South Metropolitan Gas Co. She was sunk on 18 October 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine UC-47 at position 53° 40' N, 00° 12' E - approximately 20 nautical miles South by East of Flamborough Head. She was en route from Newcastle to London with a cargo of coal.

Tom Roper was a 92 GRT wooden sailing vessel (schooner) completed in 1857 by William & Richard Ashburner for Harrison, Ainslie & Co. She was stopped on 21 October 1917 by German submarine UC-79 approximately 20 nautical miles South-South-East of Start Point and scuttled by explosive charge. She was en route from Guernsey to Cardiff in ballast.

Tommi was a 138 GRT steel sailing vessel (schooner) completed in 1900 by C. Lühring of Hammelworden. At the time of loss she had been requisitioned by the British Government and was being managed by Fisher, Alinonda & Co. Ltd. She was sunk on 5 May 1918 by gunfire from German submarine U-86 between the Calf of Man and Chicken Rock. She was en route from Belfast to Liverpool with a cargo of scrap. She had been damaged in an attack by UC-47 on 23 April off St. Agnes whilst en route from Charleston, Cornwall to Preston with a cargo of sugar.

Topaz was a 696 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1896 by Scott & Sons for Wm. Robertson. She was sunk on 12 March 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine UB-18 at position 49° 50' N, 00° 40' W - approximately 27 nautical miles East by North of Cape Barfleur. She was en route from Honfleur to Port Talbot in ballast.

Torcello was a 1,900 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1912 by Earle's Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd. for T.Wilson, Sons & Co. Ltd. From 1917 she was owned by Ellerman’s Wilson Line Ltd. She was sunk on 15 July 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-48 approximately 160 nautical miles South-West by South of Bishop Rock. She was en route from Palermo to Hull with a general cargo.

Torino was a 1,850 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1895 by R. Stephenson & Co. Ltd. for Atlantic & Eastern Steamship Co. Ltd. and managed by J.Glynn & Son. She was sunk on 29 October 1916 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-63 at position 36° 00' N, 07° 40' W - approximately 70 nautical miles West by North of Cape Trafalgar. She was en route from Genoa and Palermo to Liverpool with a general cargo.

Toro was a 3,066 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1904 by Earle's Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd. for T.Wilson, Sons & Co. Ltd. From 1917 she was owned by Ellerman's Wilson Line Ltd. She was sunk on 12 April 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-55 at position 48° 30' N, 10° 00' W - approximately 200 nautical miles West-North-West of Ushant. She was en route from Alexandria to Hull with a general cargo.

Torquay was a 870 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1914 by J. Crown & Sons for Renwick, Wilton & Co. Ltd. She was damaged on 12 February 1915 after striking a mine off Filey. She was towed in and repaired.

Torrington was a 5,597 GRT steam cargo ship completed in 1905 by W. Doxford & Sons Ltd. for Torrington Steamship Co. Ltd. From 1910 she was owned by Tatem Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. and managed by W. J. Tatem & Co. She was sunk on 8 April 1917 torpedo fired by German submarine U-55 approximately 150 nautical miles South-West of the Scilly Islands. She was en route from Savona to Barry in ballast.

Tors was a 158 GRT steam trawler completed in 1891 by Cochrane, Hamilton, Cooper & Schofield for William J. Leyman & Others. At the time of her loss she was owned by H. Woods and registered at Grimsby as GY.555. She sank on 30 July 1915 after striking a mine approximately 43 nautical miles East of Spurn Point.
