Additional Construction Information

The construction information for this vessel is confusing. Intended to be built as Hermes for Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij in the Netherlands, WW2 intervened and work on the vessel stopped. The incomplete vessel was seized in May 1945 in an incomplete state and taken to Deutsche Werft, Finkenwarder in Germany - a shipyard very busy in the war years building U-boats. Construction was completed there in June 1946.
